"(Hey) No War" is a special track for me. It is inspired by the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Normally the process is that I create a song, do all the guitars and drums, then hire a bassist and vocalist through an online marketplace for freelance services. Only, my singer is Russian.. Which posed a problem since that online marketplace banned all Russians.

Luckily I knew my vocalist's name and searched for him on the worldwide web. I found him on some Russian social media site and send him a message. He was very glad I spotted him there. I told him that I had a new song in need of vocals. Only, it was an anti-war song and I needed some more lyrics for it that he should come up with. Potentially dangerous, since he is going to speak (read: sing) out against war in a country where human rights are not quite on the top of the to-do list.

Being the brave guy that he is, he immediately said that he was willing to take up the job. He has friends in Ukraine, managed to stay out of compulsory military service and does not like the state of his country at all. Within a week he sent me his vocals for the song.
